Carers Week
Carers can’t afford to be ill

9-15 June 2008
'Many carers experience ill-health and financial difficulties during their later years. By supporting Carers Week, Independent Age wants to see more recognition of the significant social and economic contribution made by carers and the impact that caring can have on their physical and emotional health and wellbeing.'
Janet Morrison, chief executive, Independent Age
This year Carers Week will concentrate on the health and wellbeing of carers. Our theme, 'Carers can’t afford to be ill', is the reality for many carers, and highlights the need for better support and services.
Carers Week will
- recognise and celebrate the contribution made by carers
- reach to ‘hidden’ carers in every community; ensuring they know where to find support
- promote policies and practices that can improve the quality of life of carers
- campaign for better support and services for carers
Take part!
Every local organisation is encouraged to organise events and activities to mark Carers Week, for example:
- Invite external speakers to talk about local support for carers
- Display information for carers at your organisation or within the community
Organise an outing, pamper day or coffee morning for carers
