Grumpy Old Women

Judith Holder is self-appointed Head Girl to Grumpy Old Women everywhere. She wrote and produced the three hugely successful BBC2
series, and appears (along with her family) as the everywoman.  Which seemed such a good idea at the time until she was at home watching it go out realizing that the whole nation was watching her waxing her moustache and squeezing into granny knickers.

She wrote and produced Grumpy Old Holidays, Grumpy Old New Year and is the Grumpy Guides series. In short she makes a living out of being grumpy.  Well someone has to do it after all.

She also wrote the best selling book The Official Handbook of a Grumpy Old Woman, and the Secret Diary of a Grumpy Old Woman. Before enjoying this full time grump-fest, she produced some of the best known entertainers and comedians in the business including Dame Edna, Clive James, Michael Aspel, Billy Connolly, Lenny Henry and Victoria Wood.

Judith was responsible for sending celebrities to far away places to survive as dumpees; Joanna Lumley to a desert island, Billy Connolly to the Artic and Lenny Henry to the Amazon. She also reunited the children from The Sound of Music and took them back to Saltzburg in the award winning After They were Famous ITV programme, and was responsible for all the ITV reunions that followed with the original cast of Grease, The Waltons and Dynasty.

At the age of forty-six Judith decided to start doing her own comedy stand up routine, which almost certainly means that she is one of the oldest women to start stand up in bunions.

She has also written and performed comedy pieces on Women’s Hour and Home Truths.

Grumpy Old Women Live the stage show was co-written by Judith and Jenny Éclair and toured the UK from November 2005 to include the West End. The show has also run in Australia.
