What: Garden open, in aid of Independent Age
Where: The Gardens of Skirsgill Park, near Penrith
When: Sunday 24th May, 2pm - 5pm
Entry: £3.00 (children 50p)
The gardens of Skirsgill Park, near Penrith, will be open on Sunday 24th May between 2pm and 5pm. Situated on the River Eamont, the gardens include a peaceful river walk as well as a well-established azalea garden which dates back over 100 years. This little-known garden is rarely open to the public and will delight visitors with its impressive show of colour and its collection of rare trees.
There will also be a bring-and-buy produce sale and stalls selling plants. Teas and ice-creams will also be available. Most parts of the garden are suitable for wheelchair access and dogs are permitted if kept on a lead.
All proceeds from the afternoon will be used by Independent Age, a charity committed to keeping older people independent and out of poverty by providing them with practical support, financial help and lifelong friendship. Independent Age is a national charity, supporting 6,000 older people across the country and over 200 people in Cumbria.
