William Dalrymple invites you to hear him talk about his writing in the studio of Leighton House, the magical home of the Victorian artist, Lord Leighton.

Mr Dalrymple, the youngest fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, has been acclaimed as the most gifted travel writer of his generation. His first book, ‘In Xanadu’, written at the age of 22, was instantly recognised as a classic. His most recent one, ‘The Last Moghul’ has won the prestigious Duff Cooper Prize for History and Biography. One reviewer wrote of it: 'It is rare indeed that a work of such consummate scholarship and insight could also be so accessible and such fun to read.'

The talk is followed by drinks and the opportunity to buy William Dalrymple’s books.

Leighton House is one of the most extraordinary buildings of the nineteenth century, with sumptuous interiors, the domed hall evoking the world of ‘Arabian Nights’.
